Overview:

The USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination) Step-2 CK (Clinical Knowledge) tests your patient-centric clinical applications. The exam assesses the ability of the participant to apply medical knowledge, skills, and clinical science to patient care in a supervised practice setting. Step 2 CK ensures that appropriate attention gets paid to the clinical science principles and essential patient-centred skills that support safe and effective medical practice under supervision.

Exam Pattern:

Well, this examination consists of a variety of MCQs. However, there are limited questions you will get to resolve. In USMLE Step 2CK, you will come across eight blocks. Each block shall have not more than 40 test items, which we call questions. The total number of items in the examination will not exceed 318. 

As we know, USMLE is a meter-based exam. Each offset consists of scores. Hence, you will require a score of 214 to qualify for the examination. 

How much time will I get in step 2? Generally, you will get 9 hours to complete your USMLE step exam. The break is like 45 minutes and 15 minutes for a Tutorial. You'll get 60 minutes to complete a block. The remaining time could be assumed for a break if you finish a block/ section within those 60 minutes.

Prometric Test Center:

For writing the USMLE exams, there are special centres called Prometric. These Prometric centres organize computer-based test centres. There are 345 such centres in the US & Canada, while 110 USMLE test centres are international. The only requirement is that your country needs to have a Prometric Center to apply.

Step 2CK Question Type:

All the USMLE exams are designed based on the integration of content according to general principles of the subject and individual organs system. These questions are likely to be MCQs, where you have to choose the most appropriate answer for the selected question.

Abstract Format

Abstract entry formats include summaries of experimental or clinical studies commonly encountered by clinicians, such as an abstract accompanying a research report in a medical journal. You must understand the abstract to answer the questions based on

Application process:

For USMLE Step 2CK registration, if you are an IMG (International Medical Graduate), you must visit ecfmg (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates). Or, if you are a US/Canadian medical school applicant, visit nmbe (National Board of Medical Examiners). This process will take from 3-6 weeks to complete. So make sure your target date for writing the exam will follow that.
