Doctors must take OET Medicine only. Other OET professions are not valid for US Residency or ECFMG certification.

The ideal time is after USMLE Step 2 CK and before ERAS opens, to avoid delays in ECFMG certification and Match participation.

OET scores are generally valid for two years, but acceptance depends on ECFMG Pathway requirements.

OET is required only if it is part of the ECFMG Pathway under which you are applying. Requirements may change, so candidates should always check the latest ECFMG guidelines.
